SHAKESPEARE IN THE CLASSROOM

THE PROGRAM
The Shakespeare in the Classroom program runs throughout the school year, offering shortened performances of the Bard's most famous works and in-depth discussions with the actors for students K-12 across the Valley. In 2016 alone, the program reached over 18,000 students within the Clark County School District.
SCHOOL PERFORMANCES
Each play presentation is scaled to fit one school period. Multiple classes may be combined for performances, and multiple performance dates may be booked.

Each classroom presentation has five parts: The presenter offers a mini-lecture on Shakespeare and his life and times, offering up little-known, true-life tidbits to make him more human and accessible. Next comes a synopsis of the the play the students are about to see, which is followed by a description of the abridgement they are about to see. Then, our costumed actors perform a 20-minute, one-act version of the play. (Only original text is used.) After the performance,
students have the chance to read and perform lines from the play and discuss them with the cast.
